Sowing and Reaping

By Rev. Ezra S. Thomas

Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth,

that shall he also reap.

Gen 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease

What is your harvest?

  1. You will reap what you sow:

Gal 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Job 4:8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.

Hosea 10:12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

Pro 22:8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

  1. The harvest is always manifold

Gen 26:12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.

Hos 8:7 For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.

  1. The harvest is done by the descendants

John 4:37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. (Exo 34:7)

  1. If you want great harvest then sow more,

2 Cor 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

  1. Care-taking is necessary for fruitfulness

Matt 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

Ps 126:5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

  1. You have to wait for the harvest

Be ye not decieved

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

  1. The devil is a deceiver

Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Under God’s Protection

Rev. Ezra S. Thomas

Ps 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

Facts:

1. We are on a journey

Matthew 3:3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

2. We have spiritual enemies trying to harm us on the way

1 Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;  Gal 5:24, 2:20

1 Pet 5:8 the devil as a roaring lion, walks about seeking whom he may devour

Do’s:

1. In the journey follow God’s guidelines:

Isaiah 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, “This is the way walk ye in it..”

Psalm 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

2. Look for potholes

SoS 2:15 Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines; for our vines have tender grapes

Rev 21:8,  Gal 5:19-21

3. Don’t compete or compare – our example is Jesus, follow Him

2 Cor 10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

4. Don’t look around – but look unto Jesus Heb 12:1

Exo 2:12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian and hid him in the ground.

Jos 7: 20-22 Achan sinned when he looked around
